Tracing its lineage to the organization of the 147th Aviation in the Wisconsin, Iowa, and Minnesota Army National Guard in 1987, the 147th Aviation Regiment has served generations of Soldiers throughout the Midwest. The regiment was reorganized and redesignated numerous times as the Army’s aviation mission evolved, while maintaining its connection to the Wisconsin and neighboring state National Guard forces. The 1st Battalion has repeatedly answered the call to federal service, including deployments in support of operations in Iraq.

Delta Company carries that tradition as part of the 1st Battalion, 147th Aviation Regiment’s UH-60 Black Hawk fleet. During Operation New Dawn in Iraq, Soldiers of the 147th Aviation provided aviation support throughout southern Iraq, conducting missions that included troop and cargo movement, medical evacuation, and other combat aviation operations. The battalion routinely flew a high operational tempo, demonstrating the flexibility and reliability expected of Army aviation units in a combat environment.

MISSION

Equipped with the UH-60 Black Hawk, Delta Company provides rapid, versatile aviation support to Soldiers on the ground. The Black Hawk’s primary roles include air assault, tactical troop and cargo transport, aeromedical evacuation, command and control, and support to combat, stability, and humanitarian operations. Its ability to rapidly move personnel and equipment, evacuate casualties, and provide responsive aviation support makes it an essential component of the Army’s combined-arms force.

As a National Guard aviation unit, Delta Company maintains the readiness to support missions at home and abroad. Its history reflects the enduring commitment of the Citizen-Soldier: trained to serve at home, prepared to deploy anywhere, and dedicated to bringing Soldiers safely where they are needed most.
